Why are you called CBA Recording?
All recordings are edited and polished by myself, and my initials are CBA. Plus that's ABC backwards. There are several engineers who may record you through CBA Recording, but ALL tracks are worked on by yours truly
before they get a stamp of approval.
What type of music do you record?
Rock, classical, jazz, flamenco, throat-singing.
You name it, and we've probably done it. You'll see samples as you look around
the site. Many of them are full-length tracks which you are welcome to download
and keep.
Can you help our group fundraise?
DEFINITELY. In fact, CBA Recording can help you use recordings to fundraise without any initial investment or overhead. Really? Of course – send an email to find out more.
Using recordings to fundraise is
an excellent idea. Unlike cheesecakes, which are here today, gone tomorrow, a
quality album helps to promote and repromote your ensemble every time it is
played. A professional album lends an air of professionalism to your
organization and demonstrates how serious you are about your music. Not only do
you receive funds from album sales, you are more likely to experience continued
interest and additional donations.
Someone else recorded our show. Can you fix it?
Sometimes. If you provide the raw tracks from your show, I can definitely create a new mix. However, if the audio
was distorted in the initial audio capture, there is very little that can be done.
There is a mistake in the performance. Can you fix it?
Some mistakes can be fixed during the mixing process. If a pianist plays a chord incorrectly but plays it correctly the next measure, I can use the correct chord to fix the incorrect chord. However, I can’t just drop a single wrong note out if there is nothing to replace it with.
Other
options include overdubbing. If you forgot the words to the third verse, we can
rerecord just the vocals afterwards. In fact, that is what KISS did on their
landmark album Alive! (No, I didn’t record that album.)
We can also
rerecord sections. Several of CBA Recording’s collegiate gigs were scheduled
simply to record a single section or a few measures worth of music. Even if the
original recording was made by someone else and you can’t get back into the
venue you recorded it in, I can match the sound and feel of the original
recording.
Can you provide the raw, unedited
tracks too?
Definitely. This is useful for creating samples, remixes, and
learning how to mix yourself.
Can you provide an uninterrupted stream of audio for video?
As long as you request it BEFORE the actual recording. An engineer may often pause the recordings to save
space and to limit the possibility and consequences of an audio error. This never happens, but make sure you give us a heads up so we record without any pauses.
Can you help us put the audio to
video?
Yes, but this service is not included in the quote unless asked
for. If you want to make a video later on, just let us know, and we can help you
create digital video (with awesome audio, naturally) for DVD and the
Internet.
Can you take photos at our concert?
Maybe... I often take photos on-the-job, but your recording is
top priority.
Where's my question?
Can’t find it on the list? Send it to me!
Thanks for looking.
